Why Make Sample Boards?

Painting a sample board is always a good idea. While the large samples I bringer to a consultation are helpful, they cannot give you the confidence that comes with viewing a color in a large size, under the various lighting conditions in daytime and at night.

In the photo above, you can see how wall (and furniture) color changes depending on the type of light reflected onto it. 

Painting a room can be expensive and time-consuming.  Ordering an 8 oz. can of paint is not.  So don't skip this important step -- it's well worth the assurance that you've made the right choice!

Equipped with designer size Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams swatches and a solid understanding of color, I bring the paint store to you!  In the comfort of your own home or office, with your actual furnishings and lighting, we help identify paint colors that will transform your space. 

What happens during a color consultation?

Before our actual consultation, we will discuss your objective. I will want to know:

• Do you already know the general color you're after but need help picking the right shade? 

• Or are you at square one with no specific ideas yet?  

If you are a 'right shade' client, then our appointment will jump right in to using the fan deck and swatches to see how they play with your furnishings, accessories and lighting in the room. 

If you are the 'square one' client, then we will take some time initially to define your general color preferences, and proceed from there to the color selections.  Many people have never had a reason to really contemplate these preferences, and it can be an enlightening process. 

Remember, there is no 'right' color -- only the right color for you and your space.

Fees

Prior to the consultation, we will discuss your goals and estimate the time it will take to accomplish them.  Factors that influence this will be (1) the number of rooms in question; and (2) whether you are starting from square one with color selection or have already narrowed your choices. 

- First hour: $100 
- Additional time billed at $80/hour

Payments are expected at the time of service, and a trip charge may apply for locations more than 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh.
